Real time iOS syslog information

Like OS X devices iPhones and iPads also provide a lot of useful information via system logging. It is possible to access this information using iTunes, but this information is not real-time.

Apple Configurator 2

Apple’s tool to configure iOS devices has a nice feature that will install a command line utility. Simply click in the menu bar on Apple Configurator 2. In the dropdown menu you’ll see the option to install ‘Automation Tools’.
















Once the installation is completed you can open a terminal session and type:

The terminal will show realtime syslog events from your device which is attached via an USB cable.
